Dental Crowns in Austin
Dental crowns can be a solution for chipped, cracked, or discolored teeth to restore your smile. A dental crown is a restorative treatment that covers a tooth, restoring its natural shape, size, and function. Some of the reasons a patient may need a dental crown include:
- Chipped Teeth
- Cracked Teeth
- Damaged Teeth
- Misshapen Teeth
- Discolored Teeth
- Dental Implants
The process for getting a dental crown includes two visits to our dental office. At your initial appointment, your dentist will remove certain portions of your teeth to prepare it for the crown. An impression will then be made to create a custom dental crown, which is then sent to a dental lab where it can be made. A temporary crown will be placed on your tooth until your second appointment.
Once the crown has been made, we will check the appearance and fit on the crown. If you are happy with the appearance and feel, the crown will be bonded onto your tooth.
Dental Bridges
Have one or more missing teeth? A dental bridge can restore the functionality and appearance of your smile. Our teeth were designed to work together; a missing tooth can not only cause appearance issues but also disrupt chewing and speaking ability. When teeth are missing, it can also lead to bone loss, and increase the risk of tooth loss and even gum disease.
A dental bridge, however, can prevent additional damage and bone loss. Healthy, natural adjacent teeth or dental implants are necessary to attach a bridge. Crowns will be placed to anchor the dental bridge that will be attached to replace the missing tooth or teeth.
